The breeders told me that she is full pembroke, but as she's growing, everyone is confused and thinks she might be chihuahua mix. can anyone offer an opinion?
no i didnt get papers...i still love her the same, just curious to know if she is full breed.
I also think she is a mix. That suggestion of a chihuahua might be not so far of. His head and body aren't how the standard describes. His muzzle is too short and the shape of the head is of. And I don't know if it's me, but his legs are different than a corgi too.
Pixie look very cute and sweet, but it doesn't look like she's 100% corgi. She's definitely got some corgi in her (her markings are very corgi-esque and she has the ears!), but there's something else there too. Her muzzle is much shorter than most Pemmies and her head seems smaller and rounder. She doesn't have the characteristic short and stumpy legs of a corgi, either. Her legs almost seem proportional to her body and a corgi is lower to the ground. Plus, it's interesting that they left her tail undocked. I'd say chihuahua mix sounds about right, especially looking at her head. If so, I bet she'll stay a little smaller than a typical corgi. Cute and unique!
I think she looks very corgi-ish. I've seen many purebred corgis that look like she does. Like the longer legs and stuff. But she could be mixed with something and if she is, I would go for a chihuahua/corgi mix. But she looks like a corgi to me, just different breeding from the standard. She's a sweetheart though! Very cute and I love her dress. :-)
When she's full grown you probably would be able to tell more than. Especially if she suddenly grows into a giant! Lol, but she looks like a Corgi to me. :-)
i only saw pictures of the parents..not in person =/ i was so excited to get her since she is my very first pup. The dad is tri color and mom is red and white.
You could get a DNA parentage kit to find out. It costs about $55.00. I've also seen purebred Corgis that give the appearance of some Chihuahua in them. They are of smaller breeding.
There was a girl at my dog park who had a little corgi who looked like this. Everyone whispered and muttered about how she couldn't be a full bred corgi. Then she grew up into a beautiful standard tricolor. I'd give it some time, she's still growing and might just be in an awkward point right now.
my little gunni gets mistaken for a corgi/chihuahua but she is actually full corgi. gunnis legs are also really long looking, because shes so skinny. the vet says she has a growth defect bc she weights 15 lbs, you never know, yours could be full corgi too. :)
