I saw something today that kind of worries me. I had just come home a while ago and I took Dax outside. I was standing waiting for him to do what he had to do, and I looked down at him and his mouth was open slightly and kind of dripping. I said his name and he looked up at me and the bottom of his mouth was trembling. It only lasted a few seconds and he was back to normal, but I've seen him do this once before (we were inside the house the first time), so I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this and if it's something I should worry about.

A strange behavior indeed. One of my dogs quivers his mouth when he is intensely excited. Corgis rarely drool though. I would keep your eye on this behavior, perhaps keep a journal of when you see it, how long it lasts and what was happening just before it occured. This may shed some light.

He may have eaten a bug or something his system didn't like. They'll drool like that if they've gotten ahold of something they shouldn't have. Keep an eye out and be sure he doesn't eat what he's sniffing.

Charlie does this all the time. I have noticed he does this when he licks where another one of our animals has peed. Sometimes I have even caught him licking bird poo on the patio. It really sounds nasty but my vet said it wont harm him. He also has done the bottom lip quiver thing when he gets really stressed out and frightened at the vets office.

Please don't yell. All caps is akin to yelling in netiquette. Thanks. :-)

Trunks does this after he smells where Pan has peed or after he's stuck his nose you know where on Pan. (He usually gets a swift bite on the nose.) It doesn't happen a lot for him.

I would watch him and ask your vet if it keeps happening. If it is only occasional, it could be just him getting a good whiff of something.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I have noticed that in the particular spot in the yard that he was smelling when it happened, he's been pulling me to smell every time we've gone outside since then, so maybe there's something there. I had seen it happen once before a couple months ago, but we were inside, so I don't know what he could've smelled.
