On the surface, this may sound silly, but I can tell you I've learned lots about my relationship with Jesus from my corgi Tank. For example, basic obedience. I'm sure God tells me to do things every day - I just wonder how much of the time I don't pay attention....kinda like when I tell Tank to come and he doesn't!

God has also taught me that I don't have all the pieces. Just like Tank doesn't understand why he has to stop squirming while I hook him up to a leash, maybe I don't understand why I have to be patient sometimes when God is trying to work something out in my life....that will likely be for my benefit down the road.

Ah well, that should get us started! - Please share your lessons God teaches through your corgi!

What I learned from my Corgi Walker is:
1. A Corgi can out shed two ST Bernards and Labrador.
2. A Corgi can eat more than two St Bernards and a Labrador.
3. If you let a Corgi eat all he wants, then you will be up walking up in the middle of the night.
4. If you don't get up and walk a Corgi who wants to go for a walk at 2 AM, you will DEFINITELY wish you had.
5. A Corgi loves you all the time.

I think one of the greatest things a pet does is love us all the time, regardless of any circumstances. That serves to remind Christians that God loves us all the time. I personally know of one man (now deceased) who was helped to reconcile with God by the unconditional love of a pet.

My dog Henry has definitely taught me patience. He's only a pup, and he's still learning everyday. It can be frustrating at times, but I know that God has been graciously patient with me, so I need to practice that with Henry. Also, the unconditional love that I have for Henry is the same that God has for us. He couldn't do anything that would make me stop loving him, no matter what. It's really helped me to grasp God's love more, since I don't have any children yet and Henry is my first dog. There's nothing like caring for someone else that teaches you the love of God! :)

No human loves us like Jesus or my corgis.

Yesterday, our BG got himself sliced open across his hip when he went through some barbed wire. (Most of the story is on the blog I am going to post in a little while on my Country Corgi Blog.

1. HE thought he had a good reason to break the rules, but he got hurt because he did, and didn't wait for a Master (my son) to take care of the problem...
2. At least he DID trust me when I had to doctor him, cleaning and suturing the wound, and laid very quietly for the most part except a bit of wiggling when I "bit him in the butt" with the needle real fast a couple of times.

Sometimes I tend to "break the rules" (wait on the Lord for guidance, etc.) and don't see Him coming in the exact timing for it to be OK. I forget to ask if it is OK. A lot of times, when I move faster than God, I end up getting hurt or in trouble.

I also need to learn to trust God when He is working in my life, even if it gets uncomfortable and even when it hurts a lot, because He has a good reason, and He loves me and only does things for my good.

A member of our church shared with me how she sees dogs in relation to how we praise God. Some dogs "praise" by coming up very submissive and respectful.. that's one way to praise God and he loves our praise, other dogs are all jumpy, energentic and bouncy, that's another way to praise God, and he loves it. Some dogs don't listen to the call of the Master, try to do their own thing, but He still loves them just them same. It doesn't matter how we praise God, just so long as we do!
