MyCorgi.com

I'm new to MyCorgi.com. In fact, I'm new to dogs all together- I'm looking to get my first dog ever and I've decided, after a lot of research and thinking, that I want a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I've been scouring the internet and have thus far failed to find a breeder in the Houston area. I've seen a few north of Dallas online, but I have no way of knowing whether they are good, bad, etc. What I really need is a good recommendation along with maybe some help knowing which breeder to pick, especially if all I have is a website. Obviously, I'd like to go visit every one of these folks but I can't really tolerate a 9-10 hour drive round trip just to check things out and come home empty handed. Any advice at all, actually, would be appreciated!

I did! It's been a big couple of weeks, I moved to Austin and rescued a 2 year old female tri named Lily.. She's a tiny little girl at only about 21 pounds but we are working on getting another pound or two on her. The North Texas Corgi Rescue recommended her to me after I filled out their application, went through their screening and interview process. She has had a tough life, having been raised in a puppy mill and used for breeding.. presumably 2-3 litters from the looks of it. After that she was thrown out, wandered around for an indefinite period of time, got hit by a car and then picked up by animal control. Animal control gave her to the rescue society, where they discovered she would heal from her injuries but also had heartworms, the mange, and an ear infection. Her foster mom nursed her back to health and she made it through heartworm treatment before they gave her to me- she's quite the little trooper.

Lily is very mild, very polite and has no aggression issues. Already completely housebroke and loves her crate. That's why the rescue folks thought she would be a good match for me, being a first time dog owner. Since she has been through so much she is taking awhile to come out of her shell, learn what toys are for, etc, but we're making progress every day. I wouldn't trade her for anyone!

Pictures of her in my profile here.

Hi I am in between Houston and San Antonio. I raise Pembroke Welsh Corgis and have a litter on the ground now if you are interested.

Thanks

Dee
