About Me:
I grew up with lots of dogs but Gizmo is the first Corgi, and the first dog I am fully responsible for.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Gizmo! I got Gizmo from the shelter in mid September 2008. He was a stray and completely out of control when I first brought him home. For the first month I considered giving him back, but am glad I persevered as we are now inseparable. He could be a mix but his personality is pure Corgi. His unofficial birthday is September 15, 2007.
I have:

So Much Drama....

All that spoiling had made Gizmo such a diva. I was at the dog wash with Gizmo after a day at the beach, washing him with warm water. At one point the hot water went out and the water got cold, and Gizmo started whining and whining and whining and whining. Warm water back on and he stopped all the noises. Sheesh. Did I also mention that he loves seaweed fresh from the ocean? As usual he was the only dog eating seaweed on the beach.

Gizmo likes nails...

His own nails. I cut them, left them on the carpet to get the vacuum over, and by the time I got back, he ate them. urgh. what is wrong with this dog?? calcium deficiency? Does anyone else's corgi do this?

haha they are so cute!!

omg he is sooo cute! Gizmo was about a year when I got him from the shelter and he destroyed a ton of stuff. I think it was partly due to lack of respect and partly boredom (I walked him/ran him 2 hours a day but work 8 hours). Have fun!

Thank you for the request and the comment about my rescue stories. I've had many fulfilling and rewarding experiences, but I'm really missing Dooley and torn over him being adopted away from me. If I had my 'druthers, he could be in my home as a foster forever!

Ah ha, I'll have to try it. I really want him to learn that.

Finnigan will do anything for food, even wear masks. :)

I love the picture of Gizmo with the watermelon treat on his nose. Can he flip it up and catch it once it's on his nose? I've been trying to train Finn to do that but he'll just tilt his head down and let it slide off. :)

I would ask Sam next time :) I feel that if you're a mycorgi member and there is corgi in the blood why not? It's still corgi and they all need love!

Awww thanks :) Adopting is such a great thing! And I know.. doesn't it just break your heart to see things like that? My mom always comments on his ears when I bring him over to BBQs now lol.

I <3 your nose trick photos! :) Especially the watermelon lol! If you didn't send it in already - that would be great for the calendar (if not maybe next year?).

Thanks Ann, so is Gizmo. Jimmy is a devil somethime especially when he is playing with Gemma. : ) Gemma is doing better & starting to explore the house, still shy but time will help that.

Hi Ann! Scotties are very highly trainable and intelligent as well. They are more aloof and have more independent personalities, I think (at least from my experience). They are fiercely loyal to their owners and some can be less socialable than others. They would interact with me, but then go off and do their own things-be by themselves or hunt. I think that's a difference with "ratters" and "herders." Stella ALWAYS seems to be hyper-aware of where I am at all times. Stella is also REALLY bold and craaaaazy at times (that frapping thing) whereas Scotties are more consistent overall. Stella's my first corgi, though, so I can't really compare her to others. I like both breeds for different reasons, and they do have their similarities--both seem more like "big dog" personalities in a smaller package! Are you thinking of getting a Scottie?

Take a photo of you and Gizmo, facing off, each with a treat balanced on your nose.
I want to learn to let a dog biscuit slide off my nose and catch it with my tongue, so me and Al can do this together. It would make a great video.
Try it.
Love Gizmo's tail.

Dear Ann: Gizmo looks like a treasure! Love the bone/nose balance - it shows more restraint that any of mine could muster. As to Bear, he continues to roll in the midst of a herding lesson should the mood strike. I am almost afraid to take him for his lower level AKC testing this fall for surely a sandy patch will lure him away from the sheep. He actually did two courses this weekend and, according to our instructor, he would have qualified. Goodness, I've never moved that fast for fear of being stampeded by wild-eyed sheep or the corgi barrelling behind them! Linus, the fluffy, also is developing into a pretty good herder although his childlike abandon (a/k/a refusal to stay on command) and rushing to split the flock require me to work too hard. By the way, I enjoyed your post about Giz and your boyfriend - Bear considers me his charge so when the boyfriend gets playful or too close, Bear's radar becomes activated! Take good care, Ann. All the best, Nan
