That is great! Obviously they are getting along well!

Yes they are! And they are all different. Sparty gets things very quickly but he will be the first to challenge. Once he has it it seems like he never forgets. Izzy is like the kid out in left field picking flowers. You have to move very slow with...

Oh that is too bad! Try teaching the leave- it command. If you do it several times a day for a few days you will be surprised at how good she will get. Just sit with treats and put one on the floor and say leave it and before she gets it take it b...

Aww I hope he is ok! Did he jump down from somewhere?

We had a standard poodle for 18 years. He was the kind of dog that was always trying to figure out what you wanted! After he became quite senile I made the tough decision to have him put down. We knew we would never find such an easy dog again so ...

I agree with Beth. By the way I always worry about mine when I am away, it really doesn't go away!

When it is really hot we wet them down before an early am walk. Also, ice cubes are a big hit with mine. (it can be hard on their teeth though) However, we don't get that many really hot days in Michigan!

No problem but do it slowly. They can easily get an upset stomach if you change too quick.

I would have it checked out. Sparty has a sabaceous (spelling?) cyst on his chest. It is no big deal and our Standard Poodle years ago had them. It could be something that simple but she is kind of young for it. I would check with the vet.

That is such a cute photo! I am in Florida right now and I really miss my two so it reminds me of home!

I hope this works for you Nicola, I think you will be a good mommy too!

It really depends on how much training you can committ to. My Sparty did not like my son's dobe at all and she came to live with us last year. I had to work with both of them but it really only took about a month to feel like they were safe togeth...

I have used everything on my son's (now our's) doberman but she has been a puller for so long it is tough to stop her. I finally started Obedience classes with her and she is doing much better. I did not really like the Halti because it really can...

Izzy always lays with her head on my husbands\'s pillow which gives me the sub prime portion. Needless to say I wash her fuzzy booty regularly! Sparty like to lay between us with his head on my arm or leg. Makes moving the covers around a little d...

Aww he is so cute! You need a collar and leash and something fun to chew on. What fun! I hope it works out really well.

That is great! I hope she turns out to get along well with your group and you find a good home soon.

First Obedience Class for Misty

Well just got back from Misty' s first Obedience class in 5 years and she did great! Misty is my Honorary Corgi (actually she is a doberman) and really needs a refresher. She did so well two people asked if we were there just practicing for competition!! I have been thinking about competing with Sparty or Izzy but really did not think Misty could do it. Anyway I am thrilled because it means I can work with her to be better on the leash. It is tough to walk a 70 lb dog that isn't listening so Goo… Continue

Dog Training Books

I am assuming I am not the only person on this site a little addicted to dog training books. (something about having corgis will do that to you) I just read a book called "Don't Dump The Dog" by Randy Grim. It was a fun and informative read. I had to buy the book when I read a section where a lady wanted him to rehome her dog because it barked and he asked if she had been under the assumption that dogs meowed!!
So I was wondering if anyone has favorites they would like to recommend. I particular… Continue

Frequent P-mail. Is it bad for them?

When we walk my dogs all seem to want to leave P-mails all over the neighborhood. If one goes, they all have to. A guy once told me that this is unhealthy for them. Has anyone else ever heard that? I will probably ask next time we go to the vet but fortunately no one needs to right now. (watch, I probably jinxed us)

Thank you very much...that litter has gone to their new homes and just had a litter born last Thursday. They are so cute and strong. It's amazing how they know where everything is when they can't see nor hear. Always find amazement in each litter.

It's funny with the cats. My Grandmother had a Siamese cat, named Lovey. That cat could not stand me! I use to drive him nuts trying to get him to sit with me, as a child I just didn't get why he didn't want to sit with me1 So I was determined to have a siamese for myself that would love me like Lovey loved my Grandmother. Winston was my first, and oh boy did he love me! He only lived 8 years. I had Cody when Winston passed, a b-day gift for my daughter to have her own siamese :) too! Then I was volunteering at the local humane society walking dogs and my daughter and I opted to play with the cats for a bit. A ragdoll cat came in that had been returned for the second time. Gorgeous boy, the minute I saw him, I knew I had to bring him home! I have no clue why he was returned twice, he is precious and we love him to death! Cody is in his final stages of passing away from a tumor he got from vaccines. They say he won't make it past x-mas. I think Fritz helps him to feel young again. Cody is only 9. Losing them kills, but I just couldn't have a life without pets. Thanks for thinking of me!

Bev,

I just moved to Austin. I grew up in Arkansas and then moved to Iowa for the past 15 years and during that time is when I got started with corgis. THAT'S where the snow pics came from. LOL No snow like that here I'm told and I am OK with that.

No idea how these gifts are going to work, but I saw I had 100 credits and thought I'd get you that third Corgi you've been wanting. This one looks pretty jolly! And it doesn't shed. LOL

I am glad she isn't suffering, and she is now with my mom, they where good buddies until my mom died so now I can at least picture them together and both of them happy and healthy.

No she wasn't sick for a long time, she has had a couple cancers removed, and knee surgerys but on the whole she has been ok. she became very nervous, and pacing a lot and her breathing became very labored, come to fine out she had developed heart problems, and she was having a lung issue as well.
