where at? we're in Chicago Ridge-Advances in Animal Behavior-beautiful facility with indoor course on 2 inch astro turf-beginning to pro trainers for the advance agility competitor-
I'm not casting judgement at all-if I didn;t work in the field and have seen the difference over and over again in hundreds of dogs, I wouldn't be out there working to educate people to make the best choice for them-raw is not for everyone. In our...
And add to this the price of a vet visit (but we do appreciate the business) because of chronic ailments, feeding raw comes out cheaper in the long-run. A species appropriate diet builds up the immune system, helping them to fight off all kinds of...
Some people thrive on junk and processed food, but pay for it down the road-same for our pets-they are here with us for such a short time, we need to provide (cause we don't let them hunt for themselves) the best food that we can so they are with ...
Hi Jane-We're seeing what all that processed food is doing to us out there-not good. With the meat, you do the best that you can-I know people who use organic only for their dogs, but eat regular for themselves-if all you can do is "just raw", tha...
I've worked in animal hospitals for over 30 years-back then, cancer was uncommon-now it is not. I had no idea about the differences in dog foods until I worked for a Holistic Vet-the change in dogs that had health issues for a long time that vet, ...
Treats work well-also take him for short rides at first, and then build up to longer rides-so many times the only time they go for a car ride is when they go to the Vet-not a fun ride at all! Take a training class and they soon learn that they get...
Cones are soooo hard on our low-riders. If she's not going at it, she doesn't need it anyway. If you do need something, you can use a towel, rolled tight, wrap it around their neck and secure into place (I'll use tape) it's distracting enough that...
She looks GREAT! Bless her Corgi heart-sounds like she still enjoys life and gets the chance to do it-the rymadil helps with any aches and pain she may be feeling-stay with the canned food-better quality generally than the semi-moist. Spoil the ol...
I've been working with dogs for over 30 years (that's all I'll admit to) and I work as a vet tech, rehabber, nutriton advisor and trainer-I got started working at an animal hospital as summer help (you do alot of cleaning, but that's where you sta...
After my last 10 dogs have been rescues, I'm getting a puppy from a good breeder, and I'm really looking at Swedish Valhunds-an old breed that has only in the last few years been accepted into AKC
BTW, your Cori sounds a lot like my Aussie, Sky. He was also a very hyper puppy (still is a lot of the time!) but also loving and wanted to make me happy. I feel certain that if I had used harsh methods with him, I would not have the dog I do today. I love that he looks forward to learning new things and enjoys "submitting" to me without me having to force it. I hope to start agility training with him soon as well. =)
Karen, thank you for the encouragement! I was starting to get discouraged that most of the comments were about how well rollovers worked on their dogs. I did a lot of research on training methods when I got my first dog a while back and decided that the submission methods were based on outdated, flawed psychology. I know that I have made the right decision for me and my dogs and am glad to hear that others agree as well. It can be hard to stand up and go against the pop training methods everyone sees on a certain someon's TV show! Thanks again!
