Owen hasn't really been too pricey himself, some of the things he has ruined have been ;). Some dogs are chewers. Keep that in account. Countless running shoes (my fault for running, taking them off and forgetting), bedding (his, we gave up and no...

Welcome to Vancouver! Both of the dog parks mentioned are great ones. Both are HUGE! Dakota Memorial is all flat ground, whereas the Ross Complex has a huge hill to get from one side to the other. You could also go to the corgi meetups in Portland...

Beth and Jane gave great advice. But I just wanted to chime in as someone who recently relocated apartments with Stanley. I will tell you that Stanley's transition to the new place was a little bumpy. He began acting out, barking a lot, seemed esp...

I have not been involved with moving with a dog since I was a child, but I did move with a cat and cats don't move as easily as a dog. So I can give some pointers that helped with the cat: We were fortunate enough to be able to build a house, and...

A few things that I would do when right before and after is. I would not wash Owen's bedding etc. and I would have all this ready with his items having his "smell" on them and if it were me I might add an old tshirt or pillow case with your smell ...

Bear doesn't like it when I move furniture around - I think it's the herding thing, everything in its right place. He also gets suspicious when there's a new car in the parking lot outside our condo - I would say this is where the issue with the b...

Dog Park Vent

If you are unable to walk or train or exercise your herd dog... please don't get one. Please don't yell at your beautiful border collies who have been at your mercy since they were pups. They only want to do a job and because you have not given them one, today it is play with the red head's corgi. Do not ruin everyone else's time at the park by screaming at your dog constantly because it won't come to you. Perhaps this was the wrong dog for you. Next time get a small toy breed :(

If you are won… Continue

Owen's Mom

Bad dog trainer, BAD!

So Owen and I took a trip to the Ft. Steilacoom dog park today.. which is huge. Last time we were there we had a great time and even met some other corgis. All and all had a good time. This time we ran into this awful woman who introduced herself as a trainer as Owen was playing with her awful poodle and awful chihuahua. She commented on how lean Owen looked and asked me how much I fed him. I said we feed him 1 cup a day over two feedings. He is a year old and quite active as we are. She looked… Continue

One Year Plus... So many lessons learned

Well Owen celebrated his first birthday about a month ago. We did hats and the whole shabang.. Owen has gotten so big and I have to admit I do miss the puppy in him. I can tell he wants to be a big boy and be tough.

I'm pretty sure this includes chewing any clothing accidently left in reach. Goodbye bathrobe. It also includes barking although that may have something to do with the windows being open alot lately. Fortunately it includes some good things too like running with me, being quite the… Continue

Owen's Mom

Owen is sick :(

Not the first entry back you want when you have taken a bit of a break.

I came home for lunch today and Owen had thrown up on his bed and almost all the evidence had been eaten, yuck. I'm think okay.. that is a little unusually but not uncommon. He took forever to pee outside and then poo was normal then runny. Worried a little. Put the bed in the washer.

Came home after work, 3 hours later and Owen has throw up remenants on the floor again. I sigh, have to use the bathroom but let him out of… Continue

Owen's Mom

One week of rest... kind of

I'm not sure if Owen made it through okay or if he will ever look at the vet sweetly again. On Monday, I drove in the snow to get Owen fixed, vaccinated (rabies), and have his front dew claws removed. All in all, I'm pretty sure this was equally tragic for all of us involved. I picked up poor Owen that afternoon, paws bandaged and drove home. He cried until he got to my lap and I cried too.. we are babies. He rested alot and that night whined and whined. Matt had to sleep in the hallway part of… Continue

Greetings from Wenatchee!
Tell Owen he can find find a ball just like Laverne's at Petco. I had one for my kids years ago but now they make a smaller version for dogs. She loves it!
Owen is absolutely PERFECT! What a handsome boy! I love your pictures. You are a beautiful family.

Owen looks alot like our Yogi.. And Yogi is teething. he is like a little pirrana... Don't be mad at the baby.. he was only doing what comes naturally.. Everyone has a story like that.. I didn't realize that Gizmo was CHEWING OFF the front of the rockers of my Grandmothers rocker that I have. He was so good around me.. and I thought he was being such a good boy at 12-13 months. Oh know.. secretly he was turning into super beaver on that rocker. Oh well.. I will change them one day. Owen is so cute.. and very smart looking. Gail.

This is the hardest thing I have ever been through. He was like my child. I spent every moment I could with him. I know he was spoiled and had a great life...but i want him back. I wish I could turn back time. I thought this would be easier to get over but it is so hard. Everyones nice comments help but I hope you have many more years than me with your pup
