I appreciate what you (both of you) have done to further the cause of "corgidom". Your hard work and efforts benefit both corgi breeds, their owners, and those interested in the breed, but more importantly corgi rescue. Without the hard work you d...

Happy Birthday a day early. Welcome to another member from Corgi-L. Even though I don't live way up there some day I plan to come to one of your picnics. I appreciate all you do for corgi aid. Thanks!

Profile Information

Hometown:
Fortuna, California
About Me:
I'm a hard working single mom of one Pembroke, Timmy. : ) Obviously I have quite a sense of humor, (being a corgi lover).

I'm retired from public service, run my own nonprofit group to establish a dog park in our rural area, and work part time at what ever other jobs I can find to support, "The True Prince of Wales". He and I visit nursing homes and hospitals as a part of the local Delta Society chapter in our area on a monthly basis.

Feel free to visit the nonprofit website to watch our progress, or lack of as the case may be.

I own a small home located in a small rural community on the far northern California coast; far from the maddening crowds and 4-5 hours from civilization. Surrounded by very tall trees, redwoods, I love being in the outdoors and "roughing" it.

I'm much wiser than Timmy thinks I am.

About My Corgi(s):
What can I say? Words escape and run in figure eights around the various items of furniture in the living room. Timmy is the "True Prince of Wales". He's very concerned with his looks, since he's very oversized (structured more like a cardigan). Very physically fit!! works out daily, in home, on the road or track, at the park chasing balls and once a week by a pet walker. Timmy doesn't walk, he struts, honest. When he meets another dog, he puffs up and makes sure the dog knows he's buff. It cracks me up!!! Timmy says to check out his dogster page at www.dogster.com/dogs/317521. He's also a junior reporter for our small local paper, Humboldt Beacon, writing stories on dog care, pet issues and news. So he's probably busier than I am!!!

Timmy got his CGC in 2005, he also got his certification from Delta Society as a therapy dog qualified in complex areas. He's started in agility and this year we are going to try rally obedience by attending some local classes.

Musings of "An Old Woman, Learning and Timmy the Corgi"

For starters, I've made more mistakes in training my dogs than I care to recount, you have time to read or MyCorgi has space for! LOL I’m not a spring chicken as you can guess and quality of life becomes more precious to me with each passing day. Now you know where I'm coming from. What’s that got to do with training, you ask?

Well, Timmy is the first corgi I've owned, that’s what! In my former life I raised and obedience trained German Shepherd Dogs (GSD’s). My shepherds were sensitive, noble,… Continue

Flying Corgis

I just found this recently made video of corgis in a flyball competition on Memorial Day 2008, in Ramona , CA. Apparently a namesake of mine "Timmy" now holds the corgi flyball record!!! Wooo hooooo.

Looks like fun for those interested.

Important Information on Dog Food-Cost Analysis by dogster Sedona (#632919)

I've attached a link to a dogster post that delves into the nutritional world of dog food. Sedona (#63219) on dogster has compiled a list of most dog foods available and obtained the Kcals per lb or kg from the various manufacturers that don't list the information on their bags. Purpose of the post was that YOU as the consumer could see how much per month it costs to feed your dog a particular food. Interesting results showed that expensive brands don't cost that much more than cheaper brands an… Continue

Tasha Tudor

So it's a sad day in Corgiville, Tasha has left for the bridge to meet her many corgis.

Tasha Tudor, an author, illustrator and poet, died today in her Vermont home. She was born Starling Burgess and later had her name legally changed to Tasha Tudor. She was one of the most prolific and revered illustrators of all time. Her career spanned nearly 75 years. Although most of her books were children's books, even as an adult, I still enjoy them. Her most famous (IMO) are the Corgiville books. If yo… Continue

We did picked the name Casey cause he is from KC, MO but we are spelling it Casey. Funny cause there is a convenient store in the midwest in many smalal towns called Casey's spelled the same way!I

I mentioned to Jerry the CD to play @ thunderstorms, but he does not feel Casey gets that upset. Ha! He does get excited & wants to cuddle next me when he hears the thunder. I was told not to talk "baby talk" to him & try to ignore or downplay the situation. That is fine if the storm is not severe but if there is a tornado coming then I will get excited & stressed also!

Jerry was pleased to get together with his cousins. Hal was celebrating his 50th class reunion. Jerry is 3 years younger. Because it was Hal's class reunion he was very busy seeing & talking to his former classmates. Hal's 2 brothers who live in eastern Iowa were also @ the town celebration. Jerry is closer in age to them & therefore those guys visited more. It was a nice time & good weather. I have visited with Hal's sister many times so it was nice to visit with her again. I met Hal's wife @ their last trip to Iowa. I told Hal & his wife that you had told me you registered his brother Bill @ the last election. Yes it is a small world! Hal reported to us that it is more then 200 miles from Fortuna to San Francsico. Jerry feels that is too far for him to travel to see his cousin while I visit Sandra. I am still hoping my daughter & I can get to SF for a visit with Sandra & tour of the city. Maybe fall of 2010?

I thought you had moved from Fortuna to another small town nearby?

Meet Casey! His new name is Casey = from KC, MO. Casey is a Gaelic name that means alert & watchful. He is both! He is a good dog. He gets wild over loud & noisy things=lawnmower, sweeper, motorcycle & is very afraid of thunderstorms. We are learning about him & he is learning about us, his new home & neighborhood.

This Saturday we are planning to go to another local town's celebration parade. His cousin, Hal Hummel is coming to attend his class reunion. Jerry has not seen him in over 10 years so they hope to get together. I thought of you knowing the Hummel brothers when you lived in Ventura.

Thank you Sylvia & Timmy for your caring thoughts.

We have now decided to "adopt" a new dog. I found him @ a shelter in Kansas City. Of course, another Corgi! He is about 3 years old. We did not want to be challenged with puppy training since we are away from the house @ work week days. I felt it was too soon but Jerry says he wants to fill the void-why wait. We will be changing his name but do not agree yet! Hope to have pictures & share with everyone on here soon.

Sylvia and Timmy,
Yes, that weekend was quite exhausting for all of us. Running in a downpour was certainly a first for us, but he wouldn't have done it if I hadn't stepped to the line undaunted. Thank you for recognizing our bond and it is an honor to be a part of this "corgi" family!

With a sad heart I must report our Corgi Rascal passed to the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, June 8. The vet tested to find he was dying of stomach cancer & the tumor had burst.

Rascal will be missed. But he is no longer in any pain. We will always have our memories & our pictures.

For now we are taking 1 day @ a time, but someday you may see we have a new Corgi to share our home & lives.

Sylvia & Timmy,

Is there any particular brand you use for the hyaluronic acid? I went on the web-site, and there are some different combinations. Any advice? Thanks!
