I actually asked my breeder about this because I kept waiting for Beni to get a thick coat and he hasn't. She said that by now (1 year+) his coat should be "final", and that she has two types of corgis- one with thick soft fluffy - shed-o-matic coat…

happy birthday, tulip! :D

I'd say a corgi mix but because of the ears it wouldn't be just shepherd.

Looks kind of like some kind of shepherd or shepherd mix.. Very cute though lol

yeah, it has really long forearms!

Maybe a corgi mix, seems a bit tall for a corgi. Cute pic. :)

I saw a commercial online for Kraft cheese, with the tagline in the title. I briefly caught a glimpse of two dogs, and thought, "CORGI!!!!!". Upon further examination, I can't tell if it's a corgi or not. Its legs seem a little long for a corgi, but…

I use Natures Miracle for the smell and Spot Shot for the spots. Works like a charm.

Vinegar for stainless steel bowls gets all the "gunk" out too. Just add 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar and let sit for an hour, I usually just add a cup total and swish around. Sorry if this is a little off the subject but it works so well to clean any s…

We use baking soda for the stainless steel sinks, and I use a vinegar/water mix for mirrors and bathroom sinks/tubs, as well as counters. I do break down and use a stronger product to clean up after raw meat. I try to use natural where I can, but I…

Vinegar gets my vote for spots and odor neutralizer. I use peroxide for most of my cleaning and laundry! Baking soda works well for much cleaning also.

I just checked my bottle, and it's actually "Woolite Oxy-Deep"

I use the Oxi-clean rug cleaner; it did a fabulous job when poor Jack had an intestinal upset while I was at work. :-( It would not do the trick for neutralizing the odor to the dog's nose (though it worked for my own; nothing like walking in the d…

I know this isn't all natural but I use the oxyclean stain remover. Works awesome!

seem a little long for a corgi, but then again, it IS dressed up in a costume. I wasn't able to find this commercial on Youtube, so I watched it again (for the dogs! :P) and took a screen shot. What do you guys think? Maybe a mix, or something like the dog on Mad About You?… Continue

Monthly Heartworm Preventative

I was wondering about the different types of monthly heartworm preventatives that are out there. Beni's vet perscribes Sentinel, but you need a perscription to refill it, and I was wanting to get some online because it was cheaper. The vet is very hesitant about online purchasing of dog meds, but are they really any different? I ordered revolution for my cat and it seemed OK.

Any recommendations? What do you all use?

Beni

Sable or Red?

I'm trying to figure out if Beni is a light sable, or just a red and white. (The breeder thought he'd be sable). He does have intermittent black hairs (maybe 1 out of 200) in his coat, as well as black hairs dotting the back of his ears. But, he doesn't have any of the obvious signs of being sable, like the monk's cap, or a dark patch on his rear. Can anyone offer me some insight? I've got tons of pictures of him here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/t3r354/sets/72157616344770093/

Oh yes! Lyla LOVES food now. I think she just had a tough time teething and that's probably why she didn't eat much for so long. I have both Lyla and Sky on a mix of Orijen and raw chicken backs now and they just die for meal time! Lyla has a nice little shape to her. I get told several times a week by people that she is the first not obese Corgi they've ever seen! I'm glad Beni is doing well. It sounds like they may have both gotten a cautious personality from their momma!

And they are getting just so big aren't they?! Lyla has developed into quite an interesting little dog. She seems to be scared of absolutely everything except for maybe people and dogs. Is Beni like that?

I did pick one out! Like Susan said in her blog, it came down to two little guys out of Ginger's litter and I just couldn't decide between them so I gave it a day and decided on one and I'm so excited! I'll be getting him the week of Dec. 7th!

I totally thought about getting the banana costume for Lyla! She got weighed yesterday at the vet.. 19.8 lbs!! How big is Beni?
At 1:52pm on September 11, 2009, Sky and Lyla said…
Yes, Lyla can be very timid. It's a bit of a hassle sometimes. It is not uncommon for her to be so afraid of something that she doesn't even want food offered. It's interesting that Beni is like that too. They just must be a cautious bunch of pups! I have been considering taking Lyla to a herding instincts test. She is too scared, I think, to ever be very good at Agility or Rally, but she shows a lot of herding instincts so I thought herding might be fun. For all I know, the sheep will scare her though, lol. I guess we'll find out!

Hi! Sorry, I never scroll down to check the comments on my wall, so I just now saw yours. How is Beni doing? They are getting so big, aren't they?! Lyla was 16.4 lbs last time she was weighed, but that was over a month ago, so she's probably between 17 and 18 now. How big is Beni? Lyla is super laid back. She is a lazy lap dog. She is also very, very sensitive and does not like it if I raise my voice even a little. I just posted a blog about her yesterday that has a lot of information about her. And yes, Lyla will eat anything she can find. My Aussie does that too though, so I just try to keep things as picked up as possible!

Hey there! Sorry I didn't see your comment until just now! I am finally getting a puppy from Susan with this coming litter(s) - I don't know of any others who have puppies from Paula, but I bet Susan might be able to pass along your info to other people who have siblings. I would love to hear about your experience with BHR and your puppy so far! Please email me when you have a free minute (klandon@alumni.purdue.edu)!
