The barking dog

Roxi has always been the quiet one *knocks on wood* so when we got Charlie we were not ready/used to a talker/barker to that magnitude.

I've had friends mention that we should use a shock collar on him and while I know shockers can be useful in their own right.. I wasn't ready to take it to that extreme. I remember another friend telling me how she borrowed her mother's collar and the first time she used it on her dog she cried. In the end it did work out for her and he has an excellent call ba… Continue

Seperation Anxiety

So training and everything has gone well and Charlie has been adapted well into the mix of daily life.

Though we've come to a brick wall and now, staring at it trying to think of the best way to confront it.

When we first got Charlie he cried a little bit in his crate at night but then that went away. At night it is fine and he understands that sometime in the morning someone will come and let him out.

The issue is when we are away.. and sometimes when we are home.

We live with two other peo… Continue

A Charlie update.

So figured it was time to give an update on Charlie-boy. It was a little bit ago that we adopted him and was deciding on keeping him or not.

Well needless to say he is one of the family now. Napping happily to my right.

His feralness is almost completely gone. The wild whites of his eyes are gone and he's finally showing his corgi side and a personality that was hiding under that wild OMGWHATSGOINGON form. He's so sweet and surprised me when one of our neighbors kids just ran up to us (knowing… Continue

Charlie Pics

This is because I didn't get to post photos of him during his welcoming post :)

In the second photo you can see his chewed up ears and the ring around his neck where the collar was :(

The first photo you can kind of see the bites in the front of the ears as well. Those are gone now. This was sent to me while the boy was out there checking Charlie out at his old home. The last is at his old home.

He is doing a lot better now - fur is growing into the ears and his neck ring is evening out alrea… Continue

Ahaha, poor baby must have seemed like she was constantly inebriated! I don't think I could contain my laughter if there was a large thud accompanying it, or a growl to the wall's direction. Oh yeah, this house bears battle wounds from that dog. One time he dragged a two-hundred pound grill halfway across the yard and dropped it off near the pool. Thankfully, it fell over before it got there. It was one of those, "How in world did he do that?!" He also popped all the water bag weights for the pull cover by jumping on them, the little sadist :D

Haha, that is too funny! I had a Sheltie who was a bit "thick." We thought we were rescuing him from the pet shop when we bought him, and I think he was severely inbred. He tore the gutter off of the house, might I add.

Thanks for the vote! Your dogs are soo cute, and thanks for rescuing Charlie. The bug eaten ears always get me:( Gizmo had them too at the shelter, though nowhere near as bad.

You must not tie them tight enough to bunch up the collar.
I try to pay attention to the collars; we ask them to lug those things around so much of the time...

I knot the flagging on the collar and cut a festive "V" on the ends.
Right now, Gwynn has red and Al has day-glo pink. Right now, some of the mountain blueberry foliage and Sitka Mountain Ash berries are EXACTLY those colors!
