Ok, I must admit I may be too picky. Lucy smells too doggie. Is this a corgi thing or just that is the way it is with dogs?

I know I am not supposed to give her too many baths, but after 3 days she is starting to really smell again. Not the sweet little puppy smell, sadly that is gone. This is just a dog smell. A lady I talked with today has two aussies and could not remember the last time she gave them a bath. She does clean their feet though when they are muddy.

I started using Buddy Bath since I saw great reviews on the length of time their pooches smelled good. It is lovely and I think really not drying on her skin. Lucy hits 4 days and it is time to refresh her a bit.

Ok, fess up...do you give your pups a bath pretty frequently or am I just a clean freak??? Does Lucy need some of that nice smelling spray I see that will hold her over until bathtime? aka doggie deodorant!!!

I live in FL, I think I bath my 2 corgis every 2 months? it depends if they've been to the beach lately, or rolled in mud...etc. I think they smell fine given the humidity here. We have a baby powder flavor spray that we bought 5 years ago and i think we just finished the bottle this year :)

I give Mei a bath once a week. People say its a lot, but I take her to the dog park and she gets a LOT of dirt on her. Brushing helps a lot with the odor, you could try that. If she gets dirty before her bathtime, baby wipes are a good option too. I have a spray on conditioner that smells good too. I'm not sure if that's the spray you were talking about. Mei usually doesn't really start to stink until after 2 weeks though. =)

I think Grover tends to stink more when I haven't brushed him for a while. I give him a bath maybe once a month or so. Usually if he's gotten dirty from running in the grass after we mow (green legged Corgi) or if he's rolled in something yucky.
We got him fixed on Monday and I haven't had the heart to torture him with a brush out with the Furminator, and he has gotten kind of smelly. I really think the brushing helps to keep the odor down.
I've never tried to spray on stuff before though> I wonder if it will just create a more funky smell by mixing the stinky dog smell with the scented smell.

Corgis do not generally have an odor. I bathe no more than once per month unless they get into something. Sometimes it is longer. If you feel the need to bathe more frequently use a very mild shampoo as to not strip them of their natural oils. If it is really a foul smell it may be time to have the vet check the skin. If it truly has a nasty odor there may be something brewing.

I don't bathe Kitty at all~she has been down to the river a couple of times in the last month or so,gotten in and enjoyed the water.I tend to agree that brushing with the furminater really cleans her up.She just doesn't smell bad.

We give Chloe baths every 2-4 weeks. If she rolls in stuff then we give her baths. Are you talking about a "i just rolled in doody" smell. Chloe feet and legs have a doggy smelly, its not a bad smell, just a doggy smell. I cant describe it. Its not a bad scent to me at all. You can find some sprays for them, but I dont know any brands though since I have never used it. Im sorry.

Ok here is the big answer to your problem (maybe)...what kind of food do you have your corgi on? I have changed many a pup's life by asking this question at work. (I work for a very popular pet store) If your answer to this question is any food that consists of chicken-by-product and corn in the first couple of ingredients this could be a large part of the problem. I don't like to diss any dog food because some may work for some dogs however, if you switch your dog to a premium food- meaning that they use actual chicken, lamb, venison, etc. as their number one ingredient and rice as their 2nd ingredient you will find a drastic change in your dog's coat, stools, and SMELL!! I always give my personal example of my boyfriend's Jack Russell. When we first met he smelled like corn chips, he was bathing him DAILY!, he had large whelps from who knows what, and his hair was very dry. I finally after lots of begging and pleading switched him to Nutro lamb and rice (the number one lamb and rice sold nationwide) and it has changed him tremedously!! He looks like the Jack Russell off the movie The Mask now, gets lots of compliments on his coat, and hasn't had a bath in over 2 months and doesn't smell! You usually cannot find premium foods at a grocery store, you usually have to go to a Pet store like Petsmart or Petco who sell these foods. I hope this helps and if you already feed your dog a premium food hopefully it may help someone who doesn't know the nutritional difference a good food makes!!

I must be honest and say that I can't remember the last time any of our dogs had a bath. Our fosters usually need one considering where many have come from, but our five haven't had one in I have no idea how long.

Lucy's smell isn't terrible, just a bit doggie. I have her eating Kirkland's chicken, rice and vegetable formula since her parents were allergic to corn. I appreciate that suggestion though!

Kirkland Signature - Chicken, Rice & Vegetables Formula

Ingredients:
Chicken, chicken meal, whole grain brown rice, cracked pearled barley, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and Vitamin E), egg product, beet pulp, potatoes, fishmeal, flaxseed, natural flavor, brewers dried yeast, millet, carrots, peas, kelp, apples, dried skim milk, cranberry powder, potassium chloride, salt, choline chloride, rosemary extract, parsley flake, dried chicory root, glucosamine hydrochloride, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, chondroitin sulfate, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, menadione sodium bisulfite (source of vitamin K activity), riboflavin, vitamin D supplement, folic acid

I guess I am just a bit too particular. I will make surethe shampoo that I am using (Cloud Star Buddy Wash) is good for her and not stripping the oils.

I wouldn't recommend trying the Nutro they have had a lot of quality control issues both recently and in the past. They have made a lot of dogs sick, and even killed some.
