New York Dogswalk against cancer 2009!

Our story...
When we learned about this charity event we decided that although we couldn't donate bags of our own money... we could take the time and help spread the word and hopefully help pull in more than we could ever be able to give out of our own pockets. So we started a team "BklynK9", put together a flyer, posted them at dog runs around the city and in Brooklyn, sent out a few mass emails, blogged about it on MyCorgi.com, updated our facebook status, bugged all our friends and coworkers about it, and even twittered about it. Now it's up to you to complete the master plan! You've already come this far... support this great charity event by joining our team, donating to the cause, and/or helping us continue to spread the word!

Spread the word, together we can make a difference!
This year, hundreds of thousands of people will hear the words "You have cancer," and there's a good chance that some of them will be people we know and love. Dash and I have chosen to fight back against this disease and help make a difference by supporting the American Cancer Society’s mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

Please help us!
Today, there is more hope than ever for people facing cancer. However, there is much work to be done. I hope you will support Dash and I in our effort by joining using the links below to help us reach our goal.

Event Information
Dogswalk Against Cancer at Riverside Park

In its 18th year, the Dogswalk Against Cancer is the premier pet-centric charity event in New York City, an exciting and fun walk-a-thon and festival aimed at fighting both human and animal cancers. Dogswalk fundraising efforts benefit the programs of the American Cancer Society as well as the Donaldson/Atwood Cancer Clinic at the Animal Medical Center. Each year, the Animal Medical Center’s Donaldson-Atwood Cancer Clinic treats more than 3,000 pets diagnosed with cancer, using a full range of life-saving oncology therapy options. Ten percent of the net proceeds raised at Dogswalk benefit the AMC cancer clinic.

You and your dog can join the fight against cancer by registering or volunteering for the 18th Annual Dogswalk Against Cancer today. The registration fee will be $50.00 per person. Put on your shoes and lend us a paw in the fight against cancer in Riverside Park at West 108th Street, Sunday, May 3, for a fun filled day at Dogswalk! The walk component is less than a mile to ensure all canines can participate.

The New York Dogswalk Against Cancer charity event was today and despite the drizzly weather here in NYC Dash and I had a great time representing everyone who donated through us or our team! Dash and I wanted to thank everyone for helping team BklynK9 raise $790 which contributed to a grand total of over $114,000 for the fight against cancer today! Your generosity helps the American Cancer Society provide assistance to those facing cancer, save lives, and empower people to fight back against the disease. Together, we are making a difference.

A coworker told me about the event and I decided it'd be fun and a good way to pitch in. I thought other people might be interested too, but might not have known about the event like me so I started a team last night and I'm planning on promoting it with some homemade fliers around the dog parks in my area. My mom does a 60 mile walk called the 3 day, and I'm sure she'll be happy to know I'm getting involved as well :)

How neat! We're doing on in Elk Grove, CA, but it's just for canine cancer... this is a great idea!!!
