Lily Bart

We have a pond in the backyard. Lily has never gone for a swim in it, even during the hottest time of the summer. A cold front has moved into the area, and guess what? Lily went swimming. I could completely understand the need to swim in the summer, when it is hot, but why when it is 50 degrees out? All I can think is that perhaps she wanted to experiment. Wow, I just noticed that I had not blogged anything about Lily in a long time! She is quite busy. This summer was an adventure for her. We hired a lawn care company to come in and clean up the yard because we knew that the kennel would only be a temporary housing situation for Lily. After having things cut back, mowed within an inch of it's life, and a lot of cleanup, the yard is now Lily friendly. Well I went out to feed/play with Lily this morning. I am having some problems with my sciatic nerve so I am a little slow walking, bending, and moving in general. Yesterday when I was out with her, I was able to hide it because we had all gone out to play with her. Today, though, she noticed that I was hurting and did run a little, but when I started walking, she came and was right beside me. The whole time I was doing things, she never really left my side. Lily is home with us now. She had a rough day at the vet's though. Sadly there were a lot of pet emergencies so they had to delay her surgery a few hours. Lily is really out of it with the pain meds and is sleeping right now. They told me to try some water, which she drank. Unfortunately she threw up all the water and a lot of bile too, so I am keeping a close eye on her. She weighed in at 13 pounds, so I am really pleased with that. Lily is being spayed today. My husband just took her to the vet. She stayed inside last night since she could not eat or drink. We gave her a bath last night and let me tell you, that was an experience! She was not happy at all, but she did not struggle too bad. The collar we have for her is causing some redness so I am looking for another collar today while she is at the vet. She slept wonderfully last night.
