Maggie Goes Camping

Maggie turns out to be a good little traveler on our recent camping trip. She sits or lays down between us and plays with a toy or sleeps on my lap. We stopped often to walk her and she was very good. She licked ice cubes from her dish as we drove ...loved those! It's a neat way to get her water in the car. Then when we got to the campground she played with the kids there and even walked to the shore of the river. She was very excited to see the water. She's good with other dogs and people and… Continue

My Garden Buddy

I'm hoping she'll be my garden buddy and so far she follows me all around while I'm clipping and watering. She'll need to be trained not to eat my plants, among other things and I'm starting to watch the Dog Whisperer! She's learning "No" mostly about things she shouldn't chew, and also she's having some success with her 'potty spot'. It's so funny when we say No...No, nooo. to everything she wants to chew. and she lies down in a huff and looks up at me with those eyes, saying "Well, what CA… Continue

Welcome Home

We brought Maggie home and settled in to adjust to the new situation for all of us. She's so darn cute, we immediately fell in love with her. She explored the house and we set her up with her food and water. We can't get over all her cute expressions. At first she looks so serious, then she smiles, I swear, sticks her tongue out and grins up at us. She's so fluffy and looks like a big hamster from behind! Our cat, Crystal, aged 20, is in the 'process' of making friends...not! Maggie's… Continue

Hometown:
Mountains near Yosemite, CA
About Me:
I just got my Corgi, which I have been wanting for many years. I love her!

I've had a file of Corgi info and photos for about 10 years with the dream of owning one some day. After the kids moved out and my husband and I moved to the mountains from Orange County, I started searching in earnest.

I'm retired for now and love to garden, entertain and cook for family and friends, read and travel. All our friends have dogs so Maggie will have a lot of good friends!
About My Corgi(s):
Her name is Maggie and we got her in June 2008. She was born April 13, 2008.

We live on 7 acres near the Nat'l Forest, so I'll have to protect Maggie from danger while we're outdoors.

She was very dirty and had lots of puppy bites on her shoulders and head and chin after being raised outdoors on a ranch with 4 sibs. She was good during the first bath, but likes the next ones less!

I've found out that she is probably a fluffy. She has very thick fur and its long enough so I think I'll be brushing her every day! Neither of her parents have very fluffy coats, so we'll see how she turns out after a few months. Can't believe we finally have her!!

Maggie May, you are adorable!!! We love Yosemite and have taken Moose and Dixie with us a couple of times. We stay in cabins in Wawona. The dogs just love it! Your pics are so cute!

She is a cutie. But I am crazy about all fluff's. My goal is 6 fluff's unless I win the lottery and then I will have 100's. :)

Aw thanks-- your maggie is so completely adorable! I hadn't seen a fluffy corgi before Jackson, either and I was like "oh my god long haired corgi"!? I immediately came home and googled it. I know it's not sought after in the breed standard but I think you agree you'd not change a thing about your little fluffy one:)

Cat and the Custard Cup...know it well, driven by it thousands of times but, hard to believe, we've never eaten there. I love the exterior of it though, looks like it belongs in the French countryside not, Whittier Blvd. ! :)
Well, I've heard (from my brother-in-law) you move any further north, Oregon or Washington let's say, the 'natives' kinda resent it. Way too many CA
'transplants'. We still like CA but, wow, LA Co. ...too many people!

Your question re. the slideshow. Rock You.com website, open an acct.
Then, like I usually do (learning something new on a pc), played with it, following the instructions (fairly basic and easy to follow) until it looked finished. You can always go back and add more later. As you can tell, I only know a few basics.
Give it a try and let me know how you do. If we can't figure it out, we can always ask Sam!

We worked with Zod on tricks/commands pretty much from day one. We used a couple of dog training books and a lot of tips online (petplace.com was very helpful). Zod is quite a little piggy (and a bit of an attention whore) so he really works hard when food and love are used as motivation (mostly food). We set aside at least 5-10 minutes a day training him one command and after one week we would add a new one to the mix, always reviewing previous commands.

He currently has a working vocabulary of over 30 words and phrases and he is always learning new ones (the list of words we have to spell seems to increase daily).

The one command I recommend above all others is "let go". I see a lot of dogs at the park whose owners have to wrestle or chase their dogs to recover an item, and I never have to do that with Zod. (Which is good because those little legs are deceptively fast!)

Thank you for the compliment on Phog. Maggie looks adorable. You could almost mistake her for a stuffed animal she is so cute!

Maggie is going to be the cutest fluffy EVER! Right now her fur looks like it will be about Griff's length - not short, but not super long, either. We adopted Griff at 10 months, so I never got to see him as a puppy. I imagine he looked something like Maggie :) She is seriously adorable!
