About Me:
I live in rainy Washington state with my husband of 2 years, and our 2 Corgi's. I am a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician and am lucky to be working full-time at Kaiser Permanente Automated Refilll Center Pharmacy. I love my job. I am so happy to be done with school for now, since I have more time to spend with the pups. :)
About My Corgi(s):
My Corgi's are my kids :)

Einstein is my oldest, he is 16 months old. Ein was born an only pup, no brothers or sisters. We knew he was going to be a trouble maker the moment we brought him home. We had to teach him bite inhibition ourselves. His energy level was amazing, and still being over a year old! I did not think Corgi's were so hyper! Since we could not keep up with his Corgi energy, we looked into getting Ein a playmate. We came across a breeder, who just so happened to be the next door neighbor of Ein's breeder. So, we found Ein a sister. Her name is Cleopatra, and she is 13 months old. Raising two puppies at the same time can seem overwhelming at times, but I love every minute of it!

Ein will always be full of mischief and Cleo is a momma's girl. She always has to see what I am up to. If I move from room to room, she is right behind me and parks behind my feet until I relocate.

I am very happy with my puppies, and have noticed that they balanced each other out. Ein now snuggles, and Cleo plays a ton with Ein to help us out. I am a life long Corgi lover.

Part Fluffy Corgi?

When I got Cleo, I noticed that her fur was very very silky, and longer than Ein's. She is now 10 months old, and I am starting to notice that her fur is getting a little rougher, however, it is still silky. Ein's fur is water proof and kinda wirey like a normal corgi. Is there a possibility that she could be part fluffy corgi? She doesn't have the long ear hair, but she has hair in-between her toes, and it is wispy on her sides. I have some photos of her posted on here if you want to talk a lo… Continue

Katy, Thanks a lot for you reply. I'm a bit relieved now :). I think they just play it rough and not actually fight. Bailey would normally pretend to surrender and lay on his belly but he won't give up the mouthing/biting. That's the sign of submissive, right? when a dog shows his tummy?
How do you cope with the flying furs and shedding? Each time after they play fight, I have to vacuum the whole first floor.

Hi Katy,
I read your response in the forum re. corgis getting along and need your input please. When you say Ein and Cleo play well together, how do they usually play? Do they nip and bite each other? Do they share toys?
I have 2 corgis and I don't think they get along well, which is a bit heart breaking since I got Bailey (9 mths old) to be a companion for Truffle (21/2 years old).
They constantly fight, which drives me up the wall. Not sure if that's how they play??.
I think maybe part of the problem is because none is more dominant than the other. Help please.

Wally definitely is a sweetheart but he is the furthest thing from a snuggler. He just recently became more fond of belly rubs but he hates cuddling and hugs. The closest he gets to being near you is actually flopping down against your feet or legs. I don't know why he acts like this...sometimes I feel like he doesn't like us but I'm becoming more convinced it because he gets so hot that he just needs to be in a cool spot alone. *sigh*...I dunno

Thanks for the info. My dog is 9 years old and is on seniors. I live in Canada and just called my distributor and he is not even aware that they changed anything. He is going to look into it. Good to know that there is such a thing as unmarked bags; makes me extra cautious. My Butter has had bowel problems (diarrhea) in the past (before we adopted him) so I have to be careful. As we live in Canada, and on a small island, I don't think I could get the other brand you mentioned. Thanks, again, for the info. Joy

Will you tell me what is going on with Canidae that you are concerned with, please? My dog is on Canidae for seniors and now I am concerned. Thanks a lot!

We swithced Lance to Dick Van Pattens Duck and Potato Formula, which is an allergy formula and he has been fine on it since we switched. He has only been on two foods since we have had him and luckily the Duck and Potatoe Formula allergy formula has worked nicely......and he loves it! The only treats he gets are duck and potato treats by dick van patten or his kibble as a treat. He has been on it for at least 1 1/2 yrs. He will be three in October. Hope this helps you. I wonder if maybe the Iams food he was eating was making him have issues with his stomach because he completely stopped eating it and that is when the vet said to switch to the current food. Something had to be wrong with it because he loves food too much to stop eating! Poor Lance!

Hi Katy,

Thank you for the note! I haven't been on MyCorgi since I took in a second dog a few weeks ago. She was in pretty nasty shape and then tested positive for heartworm. Bad breeder used her for 4 litters of puppies in 3 years, no healthcare, then dumped her on craigslist. I've been busy learning about Cairn Terriers and trying to get her into good shape.

The great news is that she is very sweet and Charlie absolutely loves her! I told him she was his first birthday present last month. :) I'll be back here when things get a little more back to normal with my new "two-dog" routine.

We have another local (Willemette Valley) member. Ricky Jones. His dog is cute, but what else could it be being a corgi!
