About My Corgi(s):
Its amazing how time can fly. It's been almost a year since Mac was born and came into our life. He is now 10.5 months old and weighs roughly around 22 lbs. He is a fairly tall corgi but thats quite alright with me. Just means he can go running with the family a little bit easier.

Water Lover

So remember how I mentioned that Mac got to play in the water yesterday? Well, he liked it so much that he started jumping in and out of the tub this morning and looking at the faucet like "hey, why isn't this thing working?" So I went in and put about a centimeter deep puddle in the bottom of the tub and he has been playing in it for the last hour. He seems to like chasing black dirt specks all around inside of it. Its rather adorable :)
Anyone else have Tub Corgis?

Wow, So its been a while

Seeing as how its been FOREVER since I've posted I figure I might as well take some time to do it. It's been a great couple of months since I brought Mac home back in November. Since then he has traveled to the West side and played at the beach, traveled to Cali and met a bunch of friendly corgi's and come back home to finally get settled into life around E-burg. He is now around 16 pounds *im adding a pound or two since its been a few weeks since we went to the vets* but he is a very healthy mu… Continue

Settling In with Sir MacKellen

Slowly but surely our family is settling back into the "norms" of life after bringing Sir MacKellen home last Friday. That first night was exciting, tense, scary, wonderful, happy, and any other emotion you can think of. Between "Mac" getting used to his new home and Asher, and Asher getting used to Mac, and me trying to watch both Mr. HUGE *Asher is 120 lbs* around Mac *5 lbs*... lets just say my heart was in my throat for more than most of the night. Also getting to sleep was really rough. Poo… Continue

The Looming Shadow....

Back in March one of my Goals in Life came true. I rescued a beautiful dog whom I named Asher. He was everything I had wanted. A German Shepherd/Malamute mix, and quite the big boy for his 8 weeks *somewhere around 20 lbs when we first met* Gorgeous bright happy and yellow eyes, and cute giant floppy ears that had the promise of standing tall one day. When I first saw him he was walking with his foster mother Taya. "What a beautiful puppy you have." I said to her, "Oh he's not mine. I'm just fos… Continue

I think the dogs need off-leash experience in order to learn to stay close. I've not succeeded in training them as well as I'd like -- Gwynn always tends to walk ahead of me when I command "stay close". It's asking a lot of them: different rules depending on whether they're on-leash or off-leash (I don't mind if G walks ahead while on-leash). Might've been easier if I'd not let her get the habit of walking ahead on-leash.
They tend to stay fairly close (no more than 20-30 yards) off-leash on trail. I've tried to teach "closer" and keep them within 10 yards, without much success. On trail, they usually fall in at my heel, but in dim light I want them in front, but close.

Hey, that's funny -- my daughter likes deviantart.com. We go out your way in the winter when we get sick of the rain, take the dogs to Vantage or Ancient Lakes -- Gwynnie and I went up the Cle Elum River road and spent the night on the summit of Mt. Daniel a coupla weeks ago. It's amazing what corgi can do; on that last trip, I realized I wasn't watching her as closely, just trusting her rockclimbing sense. They learn.

Hi!
Yes I got Shirley from Heartbarx. Nia and Max's litter, same as Mac. It's been fun looking thru your pics seeing what Shirley will look like when she gets older. Mac is such a handsome fellow.
Deb and Lonnie are great. Very helpful and knowledgable. When I saw Nia and Max it was love at first sight amd I knew I just had to have one of their pups. Shirley was a bit bossy at first but has turned out to be such a sweet girl and so easy to train. She and LaVerne stop traffic every time we go for a walk. There arent many Corgis in Wenatchee and people just go nuts over them. If you are ever in Wenatchee stop by for a visit!
I will post more pictures when I get home. You can sure tell Mac and Shirl are related.. LaVerne, Shirley and I are in Conconully camping. They are loving it. Lots of deer and squirrels to growl at...lol.
Thanks for the note. I will look forward to seeing more pics of Mac!

Hello again!
No I never did get in touch with Heartbarx. I see she is on MyCorgi now!
Very cool! I think I will look for a red n white female next so if you hear of any let me know! Im in no rush altho April sounds like a good time so I would have the pup ready to go camping this summer. Have you ever camped at Conconully? It is a very pet friendly place. We go there every year and we have always been the only camp without a dog. I cant hardly wait to go this year and show off LaVerne! YAY!

Hi - go to the main page and look for the topic "Does your Corgi Purr". Scroll down until you see the video. Is this what Mac sounds like? It's so cute.

Hello Saberkins - thank you for the nice comment on the picture. Your baby Mac looks very much like our little Trudy when she was a pup. If Mac changes like Trudy did, his face will prob turn more red. Enjoy! Mike

Love the new pics. Some of the photos he really looks like Nia - then in the next he looks like a combination.
Don't be strangers. Bring Mac out for a visit and play time.
