May be going to court because of Wynstan. (edit)

This morning I was playing with him out in the backyard. I threw his frisbee and he ran off to catch it. When he was returning it, out of the corner of my eye, the neighbor's pitbull had climbed the fence and was charging towards him, Wynstan was instantly in flee mode. I screamed at the both of them, the other dog didn't even pay me any attention. I did the only thing I could do to save him; I pulled out my conceal carry hand gun and put the dog down. In a matter of minutes the police arrived and saw what happened. My neighbor was called in from work. He was threatening to kill me. The animal shelter came in and took away his other putbull because of the living conditions (which we have been trying to get them to do for quite some time). The police said I had not done anything wrong and was just protecting him. The neighbor is threatening to file a law suit. Now I am worried he will try to kill Wynstan.

edit Looks like I failed to mention that I will be moving in about a week to a new house (I am currently living with the parents). Which is in a nicer neighborhood and a bigger yard.

It's not that you can't trust pitbulls, it you can't trust how people care and treat there pitbulls(or any dog for htat matter), as playing with pitbulls strangths can be dangerous. But sometime great. My Adora's best friend is my sisters pitbull who is the most mothering, tollerant, and cuddliest dog i'v ever met. But it is good to here another BAD dog owner is off the street, but it is sad to hear that another pitbull and to come to such an end becuase of a bad owner. As all dogs are who we make them be or allow them to be.

And i am is a similar situation but it was a Doberman that tried to attack my 13 week old. As the owners let is outside unattended and untied in an open yard all the time. So when i stepped out with adora, the dog lungged straight for her. But thanks to my going to training lessons with my sister on how to deal with agressive dogs (which she desided to take after her full grown pitbull was ATTACKED BY a collie/retrevier). I was able to stop the dog and pick up mine before and major harm came to her.

I wish I would've had a gun when a pit bull had my puppy (the one I currently have, she lived, no thanks to the pit bull who wouldn't have given her up or the owner who was no where to be seen) by the throat and wouldn't let go. You can't trust those dogs, you definitely did the right thing.

Please be super-careful while he's out in the yard! I'm glad to hear he'll be someplace else for most of the day.

I'm so sorry to hear this - it sounds just awful! I wish you and Wynstan could both stay somewhere else until you are able to move (which is a huge blessing), as having a volatile neighbor sounds truly terrifying. Best wishes to you and keep the cell phone close by just in case!

UPDATE: Wynstan is now in a puppy daycare to help socialize him even further during the day, after 5 my grandfather will watch him at his place when I am at work. When I get off, we will be going to a friend's house to play for a bit, once he gets sleepy, we go back to my current home for the night. In the morning, he will use the yard, eat, go again and then head back to puppy daycare.

My husband suggested even boarding Wynstan in a kennel until you can move.

I do have to agree with the "caution" that Chris wrote about. You would have to be VERY careful in what you wrote and also waiting a few days would be good also! I tend to "try" to wait with things I'm angry about as 3-4 days later I have been able to process the whole thing a little more and you certainly don't want to make it sound bad or threatening!

I'd do the same for Minnie too? I've owned pits too so I know how they are. Our lil corgi's aren't that big so they do need a lil help.

Go you! You di the right thing! I would have done the same if I had a gun. It is impossible to separate fighting dogs and it might have ended bad for Wynstan and perhaps for you.
The law will be on your side cinsidering that the guy's dogs were in poor condition.
It is great that you are moving, will be much safer for both of you.
