We're into December....~

Profile Information

Hometown:
By the Sea
About Me:
My husband and I are proud 1st time owners of a Cardigan Welsh Corgi.
About My Corgi(s):
We chose his new name of Buttercup (aka "Baby Butter", "Butter" and now "Poppet") because he is such a happy fellow, loves to walk through country lanes and fields with his little nose in the air. He should have been a flower child in the '60's. He enjoys smelling the fresh North Altantic sea air.

Buttercup is famous for his "wave" which he does to make us laugh, cheer us up, get affection and veggie treats.

Buttercup is adorable. He loves to play with plush, squeaky toys and run and walk. I get woken up every morning to a belly waiting for belly rubs or a toy for me to play with. He is 9 years old. Former show and breeding dog. He weighs 47 lbs; all muscle and large bone structure. He is very loving and loyal. We are blessed to have him in our lives.

Butter finally found his Voice!

Well, it has been about 5 months since we adopted Butter (9 year old Cardigan). Some of you may remember how I wrote in, wondering why he never made a sound. Many advised me to be thankful. However, it just didn't seem right. He came perfectly trained, like a little soldier or gentleman. He never made a sound. At this point, my husband and I are pretty sure that he was prohibited from barking or making any sound where he was before. In fact, the previous owner told me she used high pressure wat… Continue

Poppet

OK, I was walking Butter the other day and yet another nickname for Butter "popped" into my head. "Poppet" I was pretty sure it meant a small child and googled it and yes, it is a British term of endearment for small children or little ones. Also, more remarkeably, it is a name of a beach in Cardigan,Wales. Well...what could be more of a delightful lovename for my Cardian Welsh Baby. I have already started teaching it to him. I say "Come, Poppet" with a British accent and he comes. Amazing, the… Continue

Thankful...musings

Today I was thinking, as I fed Buttercup, that life is a wonder and yet a puzzle. Here I am being able to afford to feed an animal food and very good food. There are so many people in the world who can not feed their children, even right here in North America. I have been blessed to be able to afford a pet and all the expenses that entails. So why am I so special? Why do I have so much? Why was I blessed to be born in a first world nation? I don't know why..but God in his love and mercy has sh… Continue

How Buttercup Performs The "Wave"

Many of you have been asking me how to train your Corgi to do the "Wave". First of all, we never trained Buttercup. He totally taught himself when he was younger. When we adopted him, he started doing it the first evening when I was chopping up vegetables for dinner. Every time I gave him a carrot, he would do it again. We noticed that he would do it to get attention, as when my husband and I were talking and he felt left out of the conversation. It progressed to his improptu wave for his new l… Continue

I am very very happy to report that the breeder who I got her from really wants her back and is actually going to breed her. My heart is being mended as we speak...it really puts me at ease that I know where she'll be and she will be making little puppies of her own. I feel 100% better. Thanks for your suggestion and concern in trying to help me with this issue, it means a lot to me. Scarlet is going to be in such good hands, I couldn't be happier for her!!!

Hi Joy! I didnt get Lances picture in on time. The dog that looks like Lance is actually Shepdogs dog. Shepdogs dog is just beautiful.
I did a little shopping the day after Thanksgiving but not to much later in the evening. Found my husband a new wallet for his birthday which is December 20th. I have heard several people have said Australia is an awesome move, I am glad you were able to get out and see it and take a break that I am sure was needed. I hope your husband finds out what is causing his problems and hopefullly it wont be Butter. I dont blame you for wanting to keep Butter. That would be too hard. Hopefully it wont be Butter. I wish as I am sure you do to that life didnt have to be so complicated. None of us deserve all theses stressful times. : ( I am here for you. Talk to you soon......Lance sends more corgi Hugs!

Hello! I am from Ontario in Canada. Buttercup is adorable, I love the videos you have, very cute! I will check out that group also. Do you think Darwin is mixed with a Corgi? I am pretty sure he is, but I am new to the Corgi breed. Thanks!
