About Me:
23, female, new first time owner of a pembroke welsh corgi. Plans are to be a stay at home mom so I can spend time with him and make sure he's raised right. I have social anxiety disorder and depression problems and so we (my roommate and I) got this dog to help with it.

I also own a manx cat, who I've had since birth, named cryshade but he is currently living in another area due to the fact that he is a indoor/outdoor cat, here he would have to be completely indoor and I think that would kill him. He's also a hunter and my parents love it when he brings them rats and mice. I can still visit him so it's really just an overall good situation for him to be in (still miss him though). I'm also an amature photographer who is working on getting a new camera. Some days the photography works, other days not so much. I still do my best though.
About My Corgi(s):
Male named Leon (nicknamed Stubbs) born March 19th of 2008. Red, white and freaking adorable. His tail (he does have one, it's a little bobtail) is completely natural and undocked. There is such a thing. It's adorable to see it wagging when he's happy because his entire butt goes with it. I don't believe in aesthetic docking of tails for any animal. If the sight of tails or stubbys upsets you that much you probably should be looking at another pet. Like a fish.

Originally I wanted to name him Ein, but James was right, that is way too common of a name since Cowboy Bebop is so popular. He's not too keen on water, dislikes going outside when it's raining, gets annoyed at the sprinkler system and hates taking baths even more. He does love chasing the roommate's cat Simon around the house though and Simon, loves teasing him by batting at him and then running just out of reach.

I've found it funny that I've ended up with a corgi. Have never been much of a dog person, and as much as I loved Ein off Cowboy Bebop, I just couldn't ever see myself as getting one because their stubby legs bothered me for whatever reason. When I saw him though it was love at first sight and I excitedly got to take him home the next day. Don't mind the stubby legs one bit. Plus I seem to love natural bunny bumps on my pets. ;)

It's been awhile

Leon is doing peachy. As peachy as the little dork can be anyway. :) He's decided he hates car wipers and loves sticking his head out the window. What is it with dogs and windows? Whatever. He always looks so blissful and happy. I've made jokes to my mom that he needs a little side car so that he won't try and wiggle himself all the way out of the window when she's driving. She thinks he needs a little red baron hat. I only let him get about half-way, and that's on the slower ends of the trips (… Continue

Furminator VS. ShedEnder

Up at Fred Meyer the other day I found Furminators on sale. It was only 5 dollars off, but I couldn't leave without one. I was amazed by it when I got home brushing both Leon and Simon. Expected it, but it still hella surprised me all the same. My mom has a ShedEnder, I've seen it at work as well as used it myself. I think that's what caused the shock. The Furminator worked so much better! Not to mention that it comes in more than one size, so if you have a animal bigger than a cat, you don't ha… Continue

She said Corgi and that got my attention.

Hi Everyone, For starters, I want to say "hi" to all of my new myspace friends! Obviously you came to my page because you are animal lovers too, like me. So I just wanted to say "hello" and that I am happy you joined me here! :-) I also am sending out this bulletin because I really need everyone's help. As many of you know, about a year ago, I started "New Dawn Pet Rescue". Through New Dawn, I go to the Los Angeles city animal shelters, and I rescue dogs that are scheduled to be euthanized… Continue

One week later...

Leon has been doing great since his emergency surgery to get that damn evil needle out. Every day he heals up a little bit more and every day I worry a little bit less. The way he is, you would never know he had surgery unless he rolled over and showed you his tummy. Been running around like nothing happened. Just a little bit calmer when indoors since he was also neutered. I hate decisions like that when they have to be made spur of the moment, still don't regret it though. Leon got to go over… Continue

Emergency Surgery

Leon had to go in for surgery early this morning. I'm at my wits end with everything that has been happening around me, but that's a completely different story. He somehow got ahold of and swallowed a sewing needle, with some thread attached. Another strike against carpet. When I get a house, it's damn well going to have wood or tile flooring. As soon as the x-ray was shown to me, before he even said a word, I knew exactly what it was and started bawling. That was one of my worst nightmares, alo… Continue

I'm so glad to hear Leon is doing well. They are resiliant aren't they? No laying around feeling sorry for himself...just too much to do. Won't be long and he will be good as new. I'm with you. I'm not a fan of carpet. I live in a 1928 farmhouse and the first thing I did was tear out all the carpet. I may have killer dust bunnies, but at lease all that hair isn't settling down into the carpet. I just swiffer it up! We will keep you guys in our thoughts! Take care.

Yes, having him safe again is what's important. I don't have kids (I'm not too old though so there could still be time) and my pups are my kids so I worry in the same way. I am what you would call an over protective mum. I was reading your profile and hope you don't mind me asking you this. Has having Leon helped with your anxiety?

Awh, don't be sad when his ear stops flopping. My pup used to have one floppy ear as well and then one morning.. bam! No more! Lol :)

Glad you're doing fine. As one who attends regular counseling sessions for bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, and borderline personality disorder (and is on a myriad of mediations to control them), I am a proponent of getting help when one needs it. Hang in there. All is well if you focus on mindfulness.

The butt wiggle is my favorite thing Edie does! It cracks me up every time and it makes her more excited when she sees me laugh.
