I have to tell you - the first time Ed's leg hurt so bad he couldn't get up, I FREAKED. He was laying down and I came home, and he didn't greet me ...he seemed ok but would NOT get up. I tried food, I begged, I was so scared - he would only wag hi...

Thanks for this. Brody is a year old now and doesn't seem to have problems at this point. I guess we'll see how it goes. I don't have $6K for the surgery either.

My "Ed" has one leg that is quite crooked. It wasn't visible when he was a baby, but it sure is now! We took him to a specialist who said it was congenital, and he blamed the poor nutritional content of most commercial dog foods. He felt that it w...

Try white rice, fat free yogurt and cooked ground turkey meat for at least a week. Then start mixing in small amounts of dry food that has no cornmeal in it. We use Avoderm. If you give treats to Libby, use those Vitalife chicken chips for the wee...

What we've learned is that you have to be ready at any time to reward the behaviors you want. so you need to have treats in your pocket or in a pouch on your belt or whatever. So, when she puts a toy in the basket you give her a treat and praise h...

Lisa B - Yes, my Brody loves rabbit poop!! He also loves cat poop! I really don't think the rabbit poop is much of a problem as it is digested grass. The cat poop is what I worry about. I have neighbors who think it is OK to let their cats roam th...

Corgi or other breed, I've never found that dogs and vegetable gardens are a good mix. Better to fence it to keep the doggies out.

Brody loves the daffodils. He stops and smells the flowers! But he does like to poop in the garden. We're working on that little problem.

I have a 2 year old Pembroke Teddy who has front feet that are turned out. He has recently developed a limp when he gets up after he has been laying down for a while. He soon "shakes" ir off. My wife took him to the vet a few days ago. She X-rayed...

Malformed Knees on Our Cardi

I posted this on the Corgi Health group and have not received any responses, so I thought I'd try here. Our darling, 4-1/2 month old Brody went to "our" vet for the first time last week to receive his final shots and get a health check. The vet, who we trust, said that his front knees were more knock-kneed than they should be, even for a Corgi. She said that their structure would put a lot of stress on his joints, both at the knee and at the top of the legs.
She said he would become arthritic. S… Continue

Oh, ok. I thought maybe Brody and Finnigan came from the same place. Either way, he's a very cute little boy.

This is heresy, but sometimes I entertain a remote doubt that Gwynn & Al are the cutest dogs in the world. Is this a sin?

What a cardi-cutie-pants! And what a handsome boy! I especially like the pictures on the stairs - adorable! I hope that things work out with the little guys legs.

Welcome! Your Cardi is adorable. :) I read your post about his knees and I would definitely get another opinion. I don't think his knees look any different than my Cardi's or my Mom's Cardi's. perhaps your vet isn't familiar with the Cardigan Corgi and is picturing the Pembroke. You'd be surprised how confused a vet can be by a Cardigan if they are not familiar with their structure. I hope you'll let us know if you find out anything else. I'm curious to know what another vet would say.
