That's too bad that breeder in Pullman didn't respond to you! I think there are several corgi breeders in Washington, although I haven't talked to any of them personally (as I said below, we got our Cardigan from a breeder over in Idaho). Good luck!

Anyone else planning to attend the corgi Halloween costume walk at Green Lake on Sat. 10/31? I can't wait!

Oops, I should clarify that I was talking about 2 different corgis below - the one we lost last year was a rescue corgi who we found out had kidney failure. The one we got from Castell Corgis after that is our current corgi, Joshua.

I am so sorry to hear about Fergus, Wendy! We lost a corgi last year too, and it was just devastating. I hope you are doing okay. I believe the breeder we adopted our corgi from last year, Kathleen at Castell Welsh Corgis (in Parma, Idaho) tests ...

Joshua and I had a great time at both the walk at Green Lake and the corgi picnic in Woodinville today! My tired Cardi is happily sleeping at my feet after quite an exciting day. :-)

That's the meetup at Green Lake, right? Yes, Joshua and I will be there for sure! Not sure about my husband...he's much less interested in walking 3 miles around a lake than Joshua is. ;)

It says he's mostly an outdoor dog...won't work for us since we don't even have a yard. :( Not that we should really take on a fourth pet right now anyway, but I still catch my husband searching for corgis on Petfinder every now and then. :) I ho...

I found the listing, Melanie: http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/pet/1290633321.html OMG he is adorable!

There's a meetup.com group up here in the Seattle/Bellevue area, too! Isn't it great to go to those get-togethers and enjoy watching dozens of corgis romping around playing together? :)

About My Corgi(s):
In 2008 my husband and I adopted our first corgi, Susie, a red and white Pembroke. She was the most beautiful, wonderful dog, and we enjoyed having her in our lives, even though it turned out to be for a very short time (she died of kidney faiulre 10 months later). Not long after that we decided to adopt a cardigan corgi named Joshua. He's young, energetic, playful and lots of fun!

Joshua Update

I realized that I haven't posted here much recently, so it seems to be time for an update on my baby, Joshua!

Two months ago I got laid off from my job. The bright side of this otherwise not-so-bright situation was that I'd have lots of time to be with Joshua this spring. I had plans for lots of play time, lots of walks, and lots of trips to his favorite local dog park.

Unfortunately a week later during one of our visits to the park, Joshua slipped while jumping over a big log and hurt his leg… Continue

Corgi Meet-Up Walk Today

My husband and I are taking Joshua to our first corgi meet-up event today! I'm really looking forward to meeting some other local corgi owners and seeing all the cute corgis bounding around the park we're meeting at for a group walk. I am sure Joshua will have a blast. :)

Joshua did great while we were on vacation!

Well, Joshua did very well while Jason and I were on vacation for a few days last week! :) My mother-in-law stayed at our house with him (and our kitties). She worked on training him (we’re doing obedience classes with him currently) and even took him to the dog park a couple of times! I didn’t think she’d go because she was so worried he wouldn’t come back to her when it was time to leave, but she said he did great. Of course, she lured him to her with a treat…and along came several other hungr… Continue

Corgis everywhere!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! :)

I am part of a community called "corgilove" on www.livejournal.com (which is how I found out about www.mycorgi.com, incidentally), but it's great to have an additional place to talk about and see adorable pictures of corgis! I also found a local corgi meet-up group online over the weekend. My husband and I are looking forward to taking Joshua to their next gathering to play with some fellow corgis at the beach!

This weekend we took Joshua to a local do… Continue

Susie's Rainbow Bridge Page

When we put Susie to sleep last November, my husband created a memorial for her on the Rainbow Bridge website. He really took losing her very hard, but writing about her, remembering her, sharing photos of her, and talking with others who have lost beloved pets really helped him deal with his grief.

We missed the Greenlake thing in August, but that's our stomping ground; we live near Northgate. Sorry we missed you. I run around Greenlake a lot and I always stop to talk to the corgis.

I'm so glad you guys had a good time at the walk yesterday! I wish I could have been there! The husband and I are definitely thinking of going to the camp out though :)

Love your profile picture of Joshua. Corgis have the happiest expressions! Maya also loves to herd our cat around and whenever that happens our cat is like "whatever".

Hi Sarah,
Loved reading about Susie on the Rainbow Bridge site. I thought about my mom, who is normally very afraid of dogs (terrified to the point of not being able to move). When Bunny came to live with us, we discovered that my mom, who lives next door in our duplex, would take Bunny up to her house during the day and sometimes for a ride in the car. Then she would try to make sure Bunny was back in the yard before my daughter came home from school, so we wouldn't know. Very sweet and funny! My mom likes Bunny and they remind me of two older ladies hanging out together during the day. Bunny mostly sleeps in the front room at her house.
Recently when Bunny had surgery to remove a breast & lump, and at the same time tore the ACL in her right rear knee, my mom would come back to our house several times a day to take Bunny outside and just check on her. Bunny likes to just go to Gramma's house, even when we're home on weekends. My mom will come back and take Bunny up to her house for awhile. Pretty cute!
Bunny came with heartworms, and later when she was spayed, she became very ill and didn't eat for almost 10 days. I'm so grateful each day that she lives with us, much like the love and appreciation you and Jason have for each day with Susie.
I've always been one to thank the animals that live with me for choosing to stay, and just wish they could let me know what would make their lives more enjoyable and better. Each have their own way of being in the world, and I'm very happy to share my house and life with them.
Hugs and blessings to you, Jason and Joshua,
Cathi
