Hometown:
Tulare, currently living in So Cal
About Me:
I am originally from Tulare, but have been living in Riverside, CA for the past 11 years. My 3 maniacs and I come up to the Central Valley often to visit family. It would be great if we could time a visit to coincide with a Corg-Event so the kids could play.

About My Corgi(s):
Dodger came to me through Stablemates breeder Cynthia Johnson in April of 06. He turned 2 Nov 19, 07. A few weeks after Dodge moved in, pwccsc.org called and asked if I wanted to adopt Genoa who had been rescued from an illegal puppy farm in San Diego. One look and I couldn't say no. I joined pwccsc and became active in the SoCal Corgi Rescue. In March, 08, they asked me to check on and then bail out, an 8 month old Sable Pem from Riverside Animal Shelter. I was to foster him until a permanent home was found, but I became his permanent home As of May 10, 08. Little Koda rounded out my Triad quite nicely.

Southern California Corgi Rescue

I'm an associate member of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of Southern California, and an active participant in their Southern California Corgi Rescue. I help id thebreed of the animals for potential rescue, bail 'em out of animal shelters or pick them up from surrendering owners, foster them, do home inspections on potential adopters, and get the word & pics out regarding furr-kids that need permanent homes.

Newly appointed organizer

Well, Lindsay Wilson has moved to Idaho and made me the new organizer for Inland Empire Corgis Meetup (formerly Rancho Cucamonga Corgis) on MeetUp.com. Our next event is a play day at Baldy View Park in Upland. I hope some of you folks can attend. By the way, if any one out there is near San Diego, I'm taking my triad for a beach play date on Coronado tomorrow, 8/15/08. I'm meeting up with the adopter of my first successful foster to see how things are going and to let Koda and SeaJay pounce on… Continue

Digital issues

Please ignore the dates on the pictures I took. My digital camera was having issues that day. These photos are from the 6/28/08 Corgi Fun Day held at Featherly Park in Anaheim.

Senior corgi needs you

Once again, a beautiful corgi has passed through our rescue. The picture shown on my home page is now of Kelley, and 11 1/2 year old sable female. Her owner is suffering with Altzheimer's and has been relocated to a nursing home. Sadly, no family member was able to take Kelley in and care for her in her twilight years. She is now being looked after by Humane Animal Rescue Team (HART) in Los Angeles. Her bio on their site (http://www.hart4dogs.org/hart_dogs.htm) reads as follows: ~~~~ Beautiful "… Continue

Scrappy

This past Saturday, 6-14-08, I picked up a very large 2 1/2 yr old sable male for fosterage. There apparently was an issue with a neighbor tormenting the dog and then calling in noise complaints and viscious animal complaints. The owners missed the court appearance date and were forced to give him away by default. Scrappy could be a good boy. He's never had to be, never been taught how, but he has it in him. He can be aggressive with humans - he's snapped at me several times when he was uncomfo… Continue

Lady found a home

Lady was found wandering as a stray in Ramona, CA about a year ago. A family took her in, cared for her, and searched for her owner to no avail. About 6 months ago, she injured her eye on a cactus plant and ended up losing it. She has adjusted well and now exits the doggy door at 97 mph instead of 100 mph. The vet places her age at between 2 and 3 years old. She is very people-friendly, and behaves well with a 19-mo old grandchild. There have been no issues with the 7 other dogs at the residence… Continue

Haven't been able to get out to Riverside because we live in the San Fernando Valley and it's one long drive. We have been going to local dog parks, but have not found any other Corgi playmates. Maybe we'll come down again one of these days :)

Hi, love your dogs and thanks for doing the rescue work.
We'll probably add another Corgi in the future and we'll consider the rescued corgi next time. We'll bring our Toby to the meeting when he's old enough. :)

LOL. Well, Koda's started checking out any pools of water to see if there's food floating around, which would explain how he ended up in my brother-in-law's koi pound this weekend. He's such a goof!

Tried the Bobbing for Weenies with the gang. Fergi is the Queen. No one else could get any because she was too fast...Now she can't walk by the wading pool without looking to be sure there aren't any weenies in there!

I'm so jealous, Patric! That was way too much fun. I've seen a relay race involving changing clothes, but it was only t-shirts. That one looked way more involved. I'm sure that a fun and good time was had by all. Your pics are great and conveyed what a wonderful event this was.

Sounds like an absolute riot! That and bobbing for weenies. I think I'll start doing that for treats! I hope to attend an event like that one of these days!

Hi Patric,

It was nice meeting you and your 3 dogs today at the Rancho Cucamonga meetup. It was definitely a lot of fun for Tabi and for us. We're definitely looking to add another Corgi in the future and I think a rescue would fit the bill perfectly. We'll definitely let you know when we're ready to do so. Hopefully we'll see you and your dogs sometime soon.

Welcome Patric to the Corgi Wanter group, and to mycorgi.com. Thank you for starting that discussion. It is well appreciated how much you and your co-workers spend time on giving abused corgis a loving home. Thanks! :)
