Profile

Hometown:
I was raised in Western Massachusetts and now live in Mobile, AL
About Me:
My partner and I are the proud parents of 4 Pemmies and a Cardi X, all of whom are spoiled rotten. I'm a dog trainer for PetSmart. I am also an ordained minister. We volunteer with Paws for Patients (PAWS) through Covenant Hospice and take Tank to nursing and assisted living homes. My partner, CorgiMom, is a vet assistant and all-around animal whisperer!

About My Corgi(s):
Tank, CWC X, is AKC-CGC and Delta certified and serves as my partner's service dog. (She is an OIF/Iraq War vet.)

Dundee, PWC, is a puppy mill rescue. When we adopted him, he weighed 14 lbs, was missing fur, teeth were rotten, ears eaten off...it was sad. Now he's a healthy and happy boy!

Moira, PWC, was a rescue organization adoption. She was grossly overweight, close to 47 lbs. She's now a svelte 26 lbs. She's the boss of the whole pack!

Maddie, PWC, is 17 mo. old. She's a spitfire and full of mischief; a spunky little girl with energy to spare!

Cody is a 13 y.o. BHT PWC who just entered our lives. His original owner came to PetSmart and said she didn't want him anymore. Unceremoniously. Just like that. I took him home and he fit right it. He's a good boy, very well behaved, but with the health issues that come with an elderly dog. We love him already!

(We also have 2 Catahoula Xs - Ayla and Ranec - who keep the party going.)

Remember our Soldiers

Saying Good-bye to Rudy

Hi everyone. I have some sad news to share. We had to have Rudy euthanized. Lately, he's taken to attacking us (me in particular) and the other dogs. We knew when we took him into our home that he had some very real problems with aggression. And we had high, high hopes we could help him to find a more peaceful life. But... In the past two weeks, he's been viciously aggressive. He's bitten me twice before. But on Thursday, some switch went off in his brain. I really don't know what triggered it… Continue

Cody's Getting Happy!

Hi gang.... I have to tell you the latest with little Cody! As you know, he's been with us only a couple of weeks now. The other night when Patti fed him is evening ration, he started dancing for his food. OMG, you could have knocked me over. I was so excited to see this little guy acting so happy. He's just flourishing with the other corgis. They have their little pack and all run together (to torture the catahoulas and the cats). He's just adorable bounding behind them all. He jumps instead of… Continue

A New Addition... (yes, we're insane)...

We have a new addition to the family: Cody the BHT. Cody is 13 years old. His owner came to PetSmart yesterday and said she was looking for a home for him and she didn't want to "mess with him anymore." All of her answers to questions about him were curt and without emotion. After I got over being shocked and wanting to punch her lights out, I told her we'd take him. She brought him back to the store within about a half hour. He was filthy, had a nasty collar on, and a knotted up chain around hi… Continue

Moira's just a little bossy...

Moira absolutely kills me! This one left me dumbfounded.

I was lying on the futon with Tank (the Cardi x) and we were enjoying a quiet afternoon. Not for long. Moira hit the doggie stairs at a dead run. She turned in the air and football tackled poor Tank. She sent him sailing about two doggie-lengths. This meant she was now the owner of the prime spot next to me on the futon!! I have never had a dog do that! Totally cracked me up! I wish I had a video because you'd never believe it unl… Continue

Thank you so much for your advice Cindi! You are very knowledgeable and I'm sure I'll have more questions for you as I am a first time corgi owner. I'm so sorry about Rudy. You are a great person for rescuing him. And you tried your best. =) Take Care!

Hi Cindi!
Just a quick Q. What are the benefits of grain free vs. grain foods? Canidae is releasing a grain free food. All I know is that all the best foods like Innova and Orijen are all grain free. I heard grains can create soft poo's. Am I right?

Cindi, I just wanted to say thank you for all of the advice you have left for other people on the forums about training puppies and correcting undesirable behavior. I have used a lot of your tips and they are working great with 11-week-old Crumpet who has only been home for one week. Thanks!!!

The B names started because of Bella. I originally wanted to call her Ginger but my husband didn't like that but loved Bella so that started it. Bacio means kiss in Italian and he is quite a kisser, he's a master of the sneak attack kiss to catch you right in the mouth. LOL Breckin means freckled in celtic and his nose is freckled so that is why he got that one. And Blizzard is obvious with that cream and white. His ears were taped for the first year like his breeder told us to to try and get his heavy-leather ears to stand up but they never did so we stopped. Now, I wouldn't know who he was if they stood up. LOL

My Pembroke Faye had one ear eaten off too. Is that from being in a fight or because of general neglect? Hers is pretty bad. Is it some sort of Parasite that does that? You have 5 Pems I'm so jealous! Rescued Corgis are awesome.
